A Brief Overview of The Scrum Methodology
According to the article chosen for today’s post, in 1995 Ken Shwaber presented the scrum methods, at an OOPSLA conference in Austin Texas.
Complex projects can be completed, by using the scrum methodologies, which is an agile frame work. If a project manager doesn’t use a methodology for their software development projects, then they are putting their project at risks of failing.
Any complex project can benefit, from the scrum methodology, although it was originally designed for projects, mainly for software development. Projects, such as engineering an automobile or an appliance can also benefit from the Scrum methodology, because Scrum is versatile. The complexity of a project, is eliminated, when the management and control process, of the scrum methodology are used. Thinking to develop a complex product, without the right tool, is outright ridiculous, because failing to plan is planning to fail, you are planning either way. Scrum helps companies, focus on building products, which meet the clients’ requirements.
Effective team collaboration also occurs in teams, who use the scrum methodologies, during the development of a software. The aim of the paper chosen this week, was to present critical factors, which are involved in the implementation of the Scrum methods, to IT companies.
The Scrum methodology has to have three elements, known as the roles (which are: the Scrum team who are the scrum master, the development team and the product owner). Also artifacts is another part of the scrum methods, and the results of the work, which is performed during each two or three week.
Finally the Sprint review, during this part of the scrum, the team meets together at the end of each sprint, and inspect the work that was delivered to the clients, for functionality issues. The key factors presented on this paper, which are good for a good a successful implementation of the scrum methodology, are related to: the process of the company, the people in the company, the technology and the structure of the organization.
Many factors are attributed to a successful implementation of scrum, and every organization, has to identify the principles of scrum that best suits their companies, in order to successfully use the scrum methodology. So you see, not only do a company have to have a good sense of software development, to develop a complex project, but the company has to also, know how to implement the methodology chosen.
A company may lose a lot of money, time and effort, when failure to successfully implement scrum is encountered. The article chosen this week, identified critical factors, which need to be checked off the list, in order to achieve the successful implementation of the scrum methodology. In order to reduce the probability of failing at implementing scrum, on any organization, that company should be able to identify the critical factors presented on the article chosen this week.
The implementation of scrum can be prevented, or it can fail, due to a high number of diverse factors, which need to be identified, by an organization who plan to implement scrum on their, company.
