HTML (Hypertext Markup Language).

A Brief Introduction of The World of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML).

HTML is utilized in Web pages creations, and as one of the most dominant markup languages for web pages; HTML have elements that are the basic building-blocks for web pages.

HTML elements normally consist of tags that are enclosed in angle brackets such as <tags>.

These tags are at the beginning and end of the web page content, this content can be images, text or table.

Without the HTML tags, you can't do anything, you have to understand, very well how HTML works, and what it can do for your website.

When you want to describe your documents online, you must use HTML, the best mark up language for the Internet.

Hypertext Markup Language, is a set of markup tags, which are used to describe different types of content types.

If you have seen, what an HTML pages looks like, then you won't have to read, the following, but if you have never, seen an HTML page, you should know that an HTML document, has these tags for sure, because the website would not function correctly.

Tags look like this: <tag1> which is the start tag and </tag1> this is the ending tag, they are also known as opening and closing tags.

HTML is not a programming language, but a markup language which is defined by a set of markup tags.

Markup tags are used in HTML to describe web pages, create interactive forms, and embed images and objects.

The first tag you would see in an HTML page, is the DOCTYPE tag, which is used to define a document, as an HTML document, in the cyber world.

The next tags you will certainly see on an HTML documents, is the <HTML></HTML> tags, which are used to describe, that a document, is indeed an HTML document.

The document's information has to also be available to developers, therefore, the <HEAD></HEAD> tags, are used, to accomplish such tasks.

Inside of the <HEAD></HEAD> tags, you will the <TITLE><TITLE> tags, which are used to give your document a title.

Inside the <HEAD></HEAD>, you almost always, find the <META> tags, which are used for something called, Search Engine Optimization, also known as SEO.

You will also see inside the <HEAD></HEAD> tags, something called the <SCRIPTS><SCRIPTS> tags, which are used to define your JavaScript.

The <STYLE></STYLE> tags, are also inside your <HEAD></HEAD> tags, and they are used to give style to your web pages.

Once you have seen the end of the <HEAD></HEAD> tags, you will find your <BODY></BODY> tags, which are used to describe, the content of a document, which is visible to the human eye, when you first go visit a URL.

When you go to a website, you don't get to see the HTML document, what you see is the interpretation of the HTML tags, which a browser is able to display.

A browser is a software, which is used to display HTML documents; browsers are required, to be able to follow certain HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), specifications.

The specifications, are maintained and upgraded actively by the World Wide Web Consortium organization, also known as W3C.

The W3C is the organization, which standardizes the cyber world, so that everyone is able to focus on their creations, and not on petty nuances, which could make your work, as a web author very difficult to do.

One of the main problems, many web developers faced, was the fact that browsers, were not all compatible with their websites.

Meaning that when a website was completed.

A web site developer, had to also make sure that the website, would be compatible with all web browsers.

Many web authors, faced difficulties for years, until the cyber world become more and more standardized.

The standardization of the INTERNET, is actively being done today; therefore, you will see the new and improve technology, in the cyber world.

Anyhow, HTML is the language, that many browsers use, to interpret and display a document online, and you will see inside the <BODY></BODY> tags, other tags such as the <H1</H1> tags, which is used to describe the heading or a title on a document.

In order to describe a paragraph you would use <P></P> tags, and if you you want to display a link on the web browser, then you would use the <A HREF=”#”></A> tags.

There are many HTML tags, which are used, in an HTML document, but of course it is up to you, to find out, what else an HTML document contains.

If you want you can start, by viewing the source of this web browser, you simply have to right click anywhere on this pages, where there is no image, and select view page source and you will see what an HTML document looks like, in its entirety.

Documents can be structured with HTML by indicating how headings, lists, quotes and other items in the documents should be formated.

The behavior of HTML Web pages, can also be changed or manipulated by using scripting languages such as JavaScript, which can be easily embedded in the HTML file or PHP, which is known to work well with HTML, to form amazing websites such as this one.

In building a Web site, there are many factors that have to be taking into consideration, such as how to lay out the items; which are going to be on the page.

You are going to also have to know, the hierarchy of the pages, which will form part of site.

Once a Web designer has answered these questions, then basic construction of the Web site can begin, this is of course using HTML.

A document that is well written can produce a terrific web page, it can also result in an HTML page that is easy to edit and understand.

The document level tags let's users divide the page into sections, which are logical and give each of those sections a purpose.

An HTML document is easy to follow, understand and read in its raw form.

The HTML language give us the ability to introduce and show information on-line.

HTML stands as one of the only Hypertext language, which is used to construct a Web site, tools, which are used today to make Web sites, are very useful but having a little knowledge about HTML would increases the understanding of the web site being built.

As the subset of the Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML), HTML has been specified by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

HTML has become today, a very integral part of the cyber world, which all of us today use to make our lives, less complicated.

An HTML document, can be described in its most simple terms as a text file, which has plain text.

The layout of a Web page, its inserted imaged and created links that point to other Web pages, are all created by the browser, which reads, interprets and displays, the HTML code to accomplish its purpose.

The most simple text editor, such as a notepad can be used to write, HTML documents because they are just text files.

A Brief History of The World of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML)

The primary author of HTML was Tim Berners-Lee, him and his colleagues at CERN, a scientific organization located in Geneva, Switzerland, invented what we all know today as HTML; which is strongly based on Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML).

The international community found common methods, to markup text into paragraphs, lists, headings, footers, and other items.

Currently the director of the World Wide Web is Tim Berners-Lee, him and this group set standards for the INTERNET.

Tim Berners-Lee, along with his colleagues invented the World Wide Web, HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol), URLs (Universal Resource Locators) and HTML in 1990 after Vannevar Bush first laid the foundation, by proposing the basics of hypertext in 1945.

One of the reasons why HTML is based on SGML, was because SGML had the ability to be implemented on any machine, just like SGML, the use of pairs of tags are found on HTML.

The HTML language was to be independent from the viewing software, or browsers that formated the HTML document to be displayed on the screen.

HTML is currently about twenty years old, it has seen many changes and has gone from a language, which was simple and didn't have a large number of tags to a language, which is changing the user experience on-line.

By letting web designers and web masters embed videos, music and pictures on-line, the HTML language, has become very popular around the world.

The nature of the World Wide Web (WWW) is defined by several important features, which are outlined in the system, which Berners-Lee later named "The World-Wide Web" in October of 1990, these features are as follows:

  • New information should be easily added and at the same time existing resources should be able to be used.
  • HTTP served as the transporting system that was used in order to move documents across networks.
  • HTML is used as the formatting language for the hypertext documents.
  • An URL was necessary to identify the location of remote hypertext documents.

The W3C, the organization that is currently responsible for developing the standards for HTML, requires that documents that are viewed on the INTERNET, should be formatted with the HTLM language.

Layouts, which support paged and scrolling methods are recommended and documents formats should be used for information exchange on any platform.

The HTML, which Berners-Lee created have evolved, into a language that is now the primary way to format a document, which is going to be published on the Web or elsewhere; for both personal and commercial uses.

HTML has become the most popular and widely used, rich text format ever in the last 20 years despite its current limitations.

The creation of HTML has allowed for many developers and business entrepreneurs, to find a surprising place indeed, for the beginnings of a technology.

The cyber world would, eventually, deliver everything from tourist information, online shopping and advertisements, financial data, weather forecasts and much more to your personal computer.

HTML of course couldn't do it all alone, it is also the fact that many other technologies are playing an important role, on the life of the online world.

This is why the World Wide Web (WWW) continues to grow and become a new world full of new things to discover everyday.

One can't never stop from utilizing the INTERNET for a month of their lives, if we have utilized it for decades.

Once you are plugged in to the INTERNET, there is no way to be unplugged, to many important things now depend on that INTERNET to be functioning 24/7.

If you don't believe me, then try to be without the INTERNET for many months, and tell me how life feels.

Don't treat the INTERNET as a god though, because The Most High, will burn you.

HTML and Website Design – The Web Editor

In order to design and build a website certain things have to be in the developer's mind, such things includes, learning thousands of HTML tags, which one has to memorize.

Another thing you as a web developer should know, is that an HTLM editor, has to have been chosen by the time of creation.

A good idea about the type of website, which will be built has to have been formulated.

Different skills and disciplines are part of the production and maintenance process of a website.

Nowadays, if someone wants to build a website you would have to have some type of basic knowledge about web graphics design, interface design, authoring which include standardized code and proprietary software.

Some one would also have to have some marketing experience; and feedback should become very important, for the web site's right development.

Website design refers to the process that goes into creating a websites.

Often many individuals will work in teams, covering different aspects of the design process, although some designers will cover them all.

The term web design is normally used to describe the design process relating to the front-end (client side), design of a website including writing mark up.

Web design partially overlaps web engineering, in the broader scope of web development.

Web designers are expected to have an awareness of usability, and if their role involves creating mark up then they are also expected to be up to date with web accessibility guidelines.
