In Visual Basic just as in any other programming language you have the task of writing instructions for a computer to carry out a task so that it outputs a desired result.
You also have to identify the data or input for your application to obtain the desired results, after of course you have put in place the necessary step or instruction to obtain the desired output.
As a developer the most important skill you have to gain is that of problem solving, which you will have to use to develop any of your applications.
In Visual Basic you will be provided with a window style screen known as form, which has boxes that users can use to type and edit informations.
The boxes can also be buttons that users can use for initialization of certain events, which will make your application more interactive.
Controls in Visual Basic are the boxes and buttons we just mentioned, these controls as well as forms are also known as object in Visual Basic.
Now that we've talked a bit about Visual Basic let's examine how to program using this great programming language; before you are able to start programming with Visual Basic though, you will of course have to have the environment set up on your computer properly.

When you open the Visual Basic software you will see a new project window, which has three tabs for new, existing and recent projects.
The commands you would use to work with Visual Basic are displayed by the Menu bar of the Visual Basic screen.
You will find some of the most common windows applications in the Menu bar, such as File, Edit, View, and Window.
You will also find commands that are specific to Visual Basic in the Menu bar, such as Project, Debug and Format.
You will also find a Tool-bar in your Visual Basic software so that you may be able to carry out standard operations.
In the tool-bar you will find the controls that we mentions before.
The most used controls today, are text boxes, picture boxes, command buttons and labels.

Labels are also used to display the desired output after processing whatever input you instruct your users to give you.
The Visual Basic software also has the command buttons which are used by your users to initiate an action or even.
The structure of a Visual Basic program is as follows: You will develop a solution to be part of one or more project, your project will contain one or more assemblies and each of the assemblies will be compiled from one or more source code.
The source code or file contains all your code and provides a definition and implementation for all your classes, structures, and modules as well as interfaces.
Visual Basic is also referred to as VB for a short abbreviation if you don't feel like writing the whole words.
The VB programming language consist of two parts that are fundamental to this programming language.
The first part is the visual part which has a set of objects available to you to build your applications.
Then you also have available to you the language part which consist of a high level procedural programming language where you can write object-oriented code to manipulate your objects and create awesome applications.
Computer programming can be fun and it can be very rewarding, when you create applications for Microsoft Platform and other platforms as well, you will find that it is very easy to program using visual basic once you have mastered the tools that are available to you of course.

VISUAL BASIC is a VISUAL and events driven Programming Language.
These are the main divergence from the old BASIC. In BASIC, programming is done in a text-only environment and the prgram is executed sequentially.
In VISUAL BASIC, programming is done in a graphical environment. Because users may click on a certain object randomly, so each object has to be programmed indepently to be able to response to those actions(events).
Therefore, a VISUAL BASIC Program is made up of many subprograms, each has its own program codes, and each can be excecuted indepently and at the same time each can be linked together in one way or another.
