A List Of The Most Advanced Robots In Technology Today
We are living in a society, which is growing on a daily basis, because of the type of technology, which we are developing. In today’s article, we are going to talk, about the different kinds of robots, which exist today in our society.
Here are the twenty five types of robots, which exist today and are being currently used.
Robot #1: Pre-Programmed Robots: when a robot is told what to do ahead of time, it has to execute that command. A robot cannot change their behavior, when working and there is no human intervention. Pre-programmed robots are robots, which have already been programmed and cannot, over right their commands.
Robot #2: Household Robots: we can now enjoy help during the household chores, because we have a robot, which can be a domestic or a service robot, at our disposal. Although these types of robots, are not very common, we could see them become more common in the future. Basic household chores, can be taken care of, with these domestic robots.
Robot #3: Autonomous Robots: humans don’t have to operate these type of robots, because they have autonomy, it is the machine’s responsibility, ultimately, to detect changes in the environment and adapt to them. Humans don’t have to constantly monitor and manipulate the environment, in order to accommodate this type of robots’ limitations.
Robot #4: Mobile Robots: one of the tasks that mobile robots are able to perform, is to search areas, such as Mars, which the Mars Explorer accomplished, because it was designed to roam the surface of Mars. Also when survivors need to be found, in collapse building, mobile robots are great for such jobs, because there are certain areas, which people may not be able to reach.
Robot #5: Cartesian Robots: are robots, which have arms with prismatic joints, and its axes follow the Cartesian coordinate system. Robots that move along the Cartesian axes, would be able to move along the x, y, and z axes, these robots are also known as the manipulator robot. Assembly, gluing and arc welding are some of the applications, which this robot is used for, by many companies.
Robot #6: Teleoperated Robots: human beings have to be able to control this robots, through a wire, remote control signal are sent to that robot. The wires used to send signal to the robot, include but are not limited to, local wireless systems (such as Wi-Fi), satellite and also the Internet. These robots are normally used to fix things, under conditions which the human body, wouldn’t be able to accomplish.
Robot #7: Cylindrical Robots: these types of robots are mainly used for assembly operations, handling at machine tools, handling at die casting machines and, spot welding. The cylindrical robot, have axes, which form a cylindrical coordinated system.
Robot #8: Augmenting Robots: when humans can’t use their bodies, to either achieve something great, or gain back what they lost, then the augmenting robots can help them achieve that. Some people are now connecting robots, directly to their body, and the user uses their hand to control the robot or the robot can be controlled, by the user’s other organs.
Robot #9: Swarm Robots: it consists of, multiple type robots, which operate in cooperation of each other, but do not form a single united robot. Self-organization in biological species, are the biggest inspiration for swarm robotics; some examples of these biological species are, insects such as ant colonies, birds flocking, food foraging, school of fish, etc.
Robot #10: Spherical/Polar Robots: Spot welding, fettling machines, gas welding, arc welding and machine tools, are all areas where these types of robots are used. The axes of this robot, forms a polar coordinate system, because the arms have spherical or near spherical work envelopes.
Robot #11: Medical and Surgical Robots: doctors are now able to perform complex types of procedures with more precision, flexibility and control, then it was ever possible before, with the techniques considered to be conventional. Through tiny incisions, medical robots are able to perform minimally invasive surgery, which makes this technology very valuable to doctors.
Robot #12: Military Robots: the military is also using robots to kill people, find bombs, and transport resources, from one point to another. The law enforcement is also using these robots, for search and rescue as well as extinguishing fires, which military personnel can’t contain.
Robot #13: Musical Robots: soon enough, people and musicians around the world, will have to compete and watch robots play the music. We won’t have to come up with the music anymore, because robots, will be able to play the music, and to compose it as well.
Robot #14: Space Robots: these types of robots, help astronauts accomplish their missions in space and make their jobs safer. These robots are used on the International Space Station, Canadarm, which was used in Shuttles and rovers, which are used on Mars and other space missions.
Robot #15: SCARA Robots: Selective Compliant Assembly Robot Arm is the acronym for SCARA. This robot is based on a 4-axis design and it is ideal for high-speed assembly, kitting, packaging and other material-handling applications, to make the work easier on the human body.
Robot #16: Humanoid Robots: are robots which resemble the human body, because the engineers, purposed the robots to become part of our society’s norm. The humanoid robots have the structure of the human body, such as the torso with a head, two legs, two arms, and may also have a face, with eyes and a mouth, which they can use to talk.
Robot #17: Articulated Robots (Robotic arms) : imagine that, the arms of a robot is a robot itself, do you understand how precise robots are, if their arms is a robot itself. Anyhow, these robots are used for complex motions and/or greater reach and payloads. This type of robot offers the highest speed, flexibility and repeatability.
Robot #18: Entertainment Robots: are made to entertain the public, these robots can be found at theme parks, along the rides. These types of robots, have been in entertainment for years, and we have also seen them on movies, such as the Jurassic Park movie, I mean you didn’t think that those dinosaur were real right.
Robot #19: Parallel Robots: are robots made to be very accurate and have good performance, because their mechanisms are closed loops. This robots’ mechanism also helps the robots, be very fast, rigid, and gives them the ability to operate and manipulate large loads. Astronomy and flight simulations, are some of the areas, where we would find this type of robot.
Robot #20: Sports Robots: people in the future, they will be able to play against other sports enthusiasts, or they may be able to play against a robot. That’s right my fellow readers, you will be faced with the option, in the future to play sports against a robot. Sports such as football, basketball, swimming, baseball and millions of other sports, will never be just a worldwide pastime.
Robot #21: Agricultural Robots : now farming can be done, with less stress to the body, because now a machine can help the farmers, to produce their crops, efficiently. Many startup agricultural technology companies, are developing, piloting and launching a whole new generation of robotic systems, which can tackle a wide range of agricultural tasks.
Robot #22: Wheeled Robots: engineers can’t just recreate robots to have legs and do, everything a human body does, with their legs. Therefore, many robotic designs are made with wheels, because they can use them, to propel themselves and navigate through the ground. Also these type of design is much easier, for engineer to be able to develop.
Robot #23: Educational Robots: teachers will never probably be replaced by robots, because human interaction is needed for another human to learn. However, robots will make it easier, for students to learn, so that students can get the most out of their educational path, they chose to follow.
Robot #24: Legged Robots: for those engineers who are much more ambitious, they work on creating robots with limbs. It is very complex to be able to develop limbs for robots, although limbs are nothing new to humans. Limbs have to be able to work on any kind of terrain, this is why the wheels, are very popular, in the robotic development arena.
Robot #25: Underwater Robots: soon enough, people won’t be able to put themselves in harm’s way, under water if they would like to explore the deep seas. Robots which are specialized in living in underwater conditions, will soon take over all the tasks, which put too much pressure on a human body, underwater.
